A pastry shop known for their croissants and other exquisite baked goods has announced they’re shutting down their retail shop for good in Toronto.
Geste Croissanterie named themselves for their croissants, but now you’ll no longer be able to get them at their very own retail shop in the city of Toronto.
Their retail store has been known as one of the top places in Toronto to load up on French pastries and other baked goods, desserts and sweet creations.
Geste Croissanterie makes their signature croissants in butter, almond, cheese and even pastrami varieties, and they also make pain au chocolat in almond and pistachio varieties.
In addition to the croissants they’re named for, they also make a wide array of other tasty treats including cookies, quiche, tarts, danishes, gateau basque, pain Suisse, flan, rhum baba and so much more. They also bake a variety of breads including baguette, rye loaves and multigrain loaves, and Geste even made their own special signature creations such as an egg cronut.
As a pastry shop, Geste also evolved at one point to become a bistro serving sandwiches, pizza and even alcoholic beverages. These items included Croque Monsieurs, sopressatta sandwiches and pizzas in smoked salmon, potato nduja and pesto sun dried tomato varieties.
The pastry shop took to social media to let people know that they would no longer be moving forward with their retail storefront selling their croissants and baked goods, making a post with the words, “big update from us.”
“We’ll be closing our retail shop to focus fully on wholesale production,” reads a post on social media from Geste Croissanterie.
“Running a storefront has been a beautiful chapter, but to grow sustainably and do what we do best, we’re shifting our energy behind the scenes. You’ll still find our baked goods, just in new locations. Thank you for being part of our journey so far.”

Wholesale bakery items made by the team behind Geste Croissanterie can still be found from now on at Highly Likely Coffee, Reply Coffee, Rooster Coffee, Sister Sister, Now & Later and Goppion Caffe.
“Geste has grown from a bakery into a bistro and boulangerie serving the usual favourites plus lunch and pizza,” reads the official website for Geste Croissanterie. “Our team is led by Chefs Virgyl Fernandes and Bikramjit Singh Chadha, both classically trained in France.”
The last day for Geste Croissanterie’s storefront at 506 Queen St. W. was Feb. 23.
