Restaurants that opened last month in Toronto during May of 2026 include new options for a range of Asian cuisine, as well as some reinventions of some places that you may find familiar.
The city now has new places to go for banh mi, high end sushi, and Korean food served alongside house brewed makgeolli. In addition to that, a popular pub just got a new makeover and a brand new name, and an Ossington hot spot has also rebranded itself as something different, but just as cool.
Here are restaurants that opened last month in Toronto.
This banh mi shop is not like the others. Located near Yonge and Dundas, this new restaurant is taking it to the next level with banh mi stuffed with caramel-glazed pork belly, grilled beef wrapped in betel leaves, and plant-based fish cakes. The best part is, the bread is baked fresh in house every day. The restaurant also serves up a refreshing menu of iced teas and matcha lattes.
Where Fox & Fiddle used to stand in Cityplace, there’s now this new but similar restaurant that’s open all day for everything from brunch to late night drinks and socializing, as the name suggests. Expect drink towers, beer buckets and giant piles of nachos topped with a pound of cheese.

After operating in Mississauga for a while, this restaurant has now opened the doors of a brand new location in downtown Toronto, located right on Queen Street West. The area now has an option for omakase-level sushi, but available for takeout as well as dine in. Psst…don’t sleep on the donburi, which is topped with premium ingredients that include scallop, sea urchin, salmon belly, fatty tuna and salmon roe.

Try a taste of local makgeolli that’s brewed in house at this new Korean restaurant on Dundas Street West. Everything revolves around the drinks here, but the brewery is also serving up a menu inspired by Korean BBQ with the protein options consisting of LA galbi AAA beef rib, pork collar, chicken thigh or maitake mushroom.

The Ossington bar known as Bonito’s has now rebranded to become this new restaurant serving a menu that includes dumplings, chicken bites and ceviche. Wash it all down with a Guinness, or one of Bambu’s cocktails such as a creation like the Spagetaboutit made with Aperol, lime, and a Tajín rim, topped with Modelo Especial.
