Restaurants that closed last month in Toronto during May of 2026 are now gone, but definitely not forgotten. The most notable closure of the month most likely was the closing of iconic diner the Patrician Grill, which had been in business for many decades.

The city of Toronto also lost restaurants serving several takes on a wide variety of Asian cuisine, as well as a convenient location for some of the best barbecue in town and a well loved seafood restaurants

Patrician Grill

Decades of history came to a close this past May when this diner on King East finally closed its doors, bidding farewell to the neighbourhood with an emotional goodbye after 70 long years. First opening up shop in the 1950s, it was purchased by Louie and Helen Papas in 1967. In 2011, it was passed down to their son, Terry Papas and brother-in-law Chris Slifkas.
