Restaurants that swung open their doors in the last month of 2025 in December have brought new energy to Toronto even as the year is ending.
This past month during December in the last bit of the year, Toronto got a new place for convenient grab-and-go Japanese onigiri, a brand new spot for Mexican food making their very own blue corn tortillas, and a Toronto location of a hit Georgetown coffee house and wine bar.
A famed and popular Caribbean restaurant also reinvented itself last month, and while the offerings are much the same it’s a big change for a spot serving beloved eats.
No matter where you’ve been eating during the last month of the year in Toronto, there are always more new places to try, and there are sure to be even more new openings to get excited about when 2026 begins.

Formerly known as Rasta Pasta, this restaurant located in bustling Kensington Market has donned a new name, though thankfully they haven’t changed much else about the place. They’re still serving up Caribbean fusion food including their signature Italian-inspired pastas, along with traditional signature dishes like jerk chicken.
In a hurry and need a quick grab-and-go snack as you’re navigating through the PATH? Now, you need look no further than this new little spot tucked away in the busy thoroughfare. They’re offering easy pocket-sized onigiri stuffed with fillings that include tuna mayo, salmon and umeboshi.

This new Mexican restaurant on Gerrard East is poised to become a casual nightlife hotspot with a lively interior lit up by black light paintings, including one of Frida Kahlo with a chihuahua. They’re serving tacos made with their own scratch house blue corn tortillas, nachos, churros and even al pastor pizza.

This charmingly cute and cozy wine bar and coffee shop that just opened their first location in Toronto on Bloor after opening their original spot in Georgetown has been drawing people in with their intimate atmosphere and list of natural wines.

A new location of this restaurant that has its first spot in the Canary District has just popped up in Etobicoke on Dundas Street West. They’re serving up diverse global flavours with lots of options on the menu for small plates as well as standard casual bistro fare like flatbreads, sandwiches and pasta.
