Ontario is getting a brand new cheese festival with 80 vendors

Ontario is getting a brand new biennial cheese festival that will highlight 80 vendors, and of course there will be lots of samples available.

The new Ontario Cheese Festival promises to be a “celebration of Ontario cheese and artisanal agricultural products.”

The event will showcase Ontario cheese and dairy products with Ontario cheese producers as well as other growers and makers, plus wineries, craft breweries and distilleries. There will also be seminars throughout the day of the festival, and Critics’ Choice and People’s Choice Awards will be given out. Live music and food trucks should be part of the event too.

Attendees will receive a large insulated swag bag for all the cheesy goodies along with a tasting glass.

You can still apply to be a vendor at the festival, with applications open to cheese makers, dairy producers and food or beverage vendors.

The festival will take place in Prince Edward County at The Cape, a stunning event venue housed in an 1863 Georgian-style manor. Tickets are available online and cost $75.

If you’re heading to the fest from out of town, promotional rates for accommodations are available through the festival. The festival is also organizing buses from Whitby and Kingston and a shuttle service from Belleville and around Prince Edward County.

The Ontario Cheese Festival will take place on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
