CLOSURE: A restaurant for bao is shuttering its doors in Mississauga

A location of a restaurant for tasty bao has unfortunately announced that they will soon be closing their doors this month in Mississauga.
Bao Bar is a restaurant specializing in bao that used to have two locations in Ontario, but now there’s one less.
They serve all kinds of creative takes on bao, with options like Buffalo chicken, pulled pork, Peking style roasted duck, fried white fish, crispy breaded seasoned avocado and even fried seasoned tofu. They also served baguette sandwiches with all the same fillings, and sides including duck poutine and bulgogi beef kimchi fries.
There’s even a protein filling that’s exclusive to the Mississauga location that’s closing, the karaage chicken, a Japanese style of marinated chicken that’s been fried.
“Bao Sandwich Bar takes on a modern approach to a variety of Asian cuisines, focusing on traditional staple foods. Originating in the late 19th century, banh mi was a product of French colonialism, by bringing together the french baguette with native Vietnamese ingredients. Gua Bao, on the other hand, is Taiwan’s ‘go to’ street food, beloved for its flavours and textures,” reads the official website for Bao Bar.
“This food style has since exploded to ‘foodie’ culture through increased exposure. At Bao Sandwich Bar, we make our own staple ingredients. By combining one with another, we created our own variations of flavourful sandwiches to introduce to the community.”
The restaurant has taken to social media to let people know that their location in Mississauga will soon be closing within the month.
“Bao Sandwich Bar Mississauga will be permanently closing after 4 years,” reads the caption to a social media post, signed by the Bao Bar team. “We would like to thank our valued customers for their loyalty and support. We are truly grateful for your business and for welcoming us into the community.”

“Move to the Heartland centre! You’ll do great there!!” one commenter suggested. Another person pleaded, “Please let us know if you find a new location – we love your food.”
The other location of Bao Bar in Waterloo will remain open.
