After some concern from locals about the fate of the business, Carlo’s Bakery has reopened in Port Credit after undergoing a transformation.

A recent Facebook post in a Port Credit group said, “Everyone in PC is frantic,” but “from the horse’s mouth, they are not closing, just renovating.” The post was from someone who was curious about the Carlo’s location and spotted a Carlo’s van, asking the person driving it what was going on. The worker reportedly told the person that a full-on restaurant was opening at the Carlo’s Bakery in the spring.

Well, spring has sprung, and Carlo’s Bakery in Port Credit is reopening with a whole new restaurant concept inside.

“We’re thrilled to announce our reopening, following a brief hiatus to revamp our menu offerings. Listening to our wonderful community, we’ve expanded beyond our beloved bakery treats to include an array of lunch and dinner options,” reads an announcement on the Carlo’s Port Credit website. “Introducing Lago Pizza & Pasta, a collaboration with local Mississauga Chef, Lino Dicecca.”

That doesn’t mean all the Carlo’s classics have gone anywhere: they’re still serving up sweet treats including cake, cannoli and lobster tails.

Now, you’ll just be able to get them in the same location as a full-service restaurant serving appetizers, salads, pizza and pasta. Sandwiches, salads, gelato and coffee are also available to grab and go.

The Port Credit store has reopened with hours from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
