People in Toronto love going out for brunch, and now a newcomer that’s a little different from the rest has just arrived on the scene.

Tatsuro’s serves Japanese-inspired brunch, including the usual coffee and toast as well as a uniquely Japanese addition, pasta.

Dishes on the menu include housemade milk bread toasts, wafu pasta, moffles (mochi waffles) and karaage.

Some dishes are aggressively minimalistic, like a puffy Morning Moffle served simply with butter and syrup, or a honey butter toast of toasted house shokupan adorned only with honey, butter and salt.

Tatsuro’s also serves their own take on an all-day breakfast: two eggs nori sunny side up or scrambled, with a banger sausage, furikake smashed potato, mushrooms, salad and shokupan toast. To wash it all down, the brunch restaurant serves caffeinated beverages like hojicha lattes.

The design of the restaurant space matches the minimalist food, with lots of white and brick accented by bold emerald green.

Tasturo’s is now open at 1378 Queen St. E.
