If you’ve been tired of this wickedly cold spring and are ready to break out the shorts, pull them out of the wardrobe because high temperatures up to almost 30 C are expected for next week following the Victoria Day long weekend.

In typical Toronto fashion, after a brutal winter and just a few weeks of spring-like weather that’s still involved a mix of snow and sleet, we may be blasting right into a sort of false summer.

Temperatures are expected to climb up to 23 C on the Sunday of the holiday weekend and continue to rise to 25 C for the holiday Monday, according to Environment Canada.

Then, on Tuesday, a high of a staggering 29 C is expected…but with a 40 per cent chance of rain. There may also be thunderstorms. That said, it should be perfectly pleasant on the Victoria Day long weekend with warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies on Sunday and Monday.

The temperature is forecast to then drop back down to 23 C on Wednesday, again with a chance of showers. Still, that’s a 10-degree temperature swing compared to the weather we’re experiencing right now.

Heading into next week, the highs should be dipping back down below or hovering around 20 C, according to the Weather Network. Of course, forecasts are subject to change, especially if they are far in the future.

When it comes to the upcoming long weekend, however, you should definitely be able to finally shed your winter coat.
