A beloved yoga studio in Toronto has announced they’re closing their doors for good after a decade.

Union Yoga has been a dependable spot for different types of yoga classes for a long time now, but they just recently announced on social media that they’ll soon be shutting down.

“As you can imagine, this was a very difficult decision, made with much consideration,” reads a post on Instagram signed by Union founder and director Ruby Knafo. “We know this will be felt deeply by many of you, and offer our love and care, and hope that we can go out on a high note together.”

The space at Bloor and Dovercourt was home to another yoga studio prior to Union, and some people have practiced there during that entire span of time.

“I am reaching through my screen to offer hugs and deep bows of appreciation. We almost closed twice during the lockdown period, but thanks to you (and the loans, both govt and personal..) we made it to year 10,” reads Union’s post. “The best and most meaningful part of running this small business has been the community that we created together.”

The post goes on to encourage people to follow Union’s yoga teachers wherever they end up, and says Union will share info and ways to connect in the coming months. There are many comments on the post from fellow yoga studios, neighbouring businesses, and other members of Union’s community, with Union replying to most of them.

Union Yoga will be closing on July 12.
