New Year’s Day marks the first day of the new year and the first holiday for a few weeks, as the festive season officially grinds to a halt in Toronto.
This year, New Year’s Day falls on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.

- Eaton Centre – 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Pacific Mall – 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- CF Markville – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Hillcrest Mall – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Toronto Premium Outlets – 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Food and Grocery
- Rabba
- Summerhill Market – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Whole Foods (Yorkville and Square One locations)
- Eataly (all locations)
- Many cafes, restaurants and bars will be open, but always call ahead to be sure
