A huge new luxury hotel that comes complete with its own two-level French-inspired bar and bistro is opening soon in Toronto.

The first TOOR Hotel from Canadian hotelier Sukhdev Toor will have 232 guest rooms and suites and 181 premium residential rental units, and is 33 storeys tall. The development will have valet parking, a 1,500-square-foot fitness centre and yoga studio, a 3,000-square-foot terrace and 1,100 square feet of meeting and event space. There should also be locally sourced amenities and offerings.

Guest rooms and suites designed by award-winning DesignAgency are influenced by Toronto’s parks and green spaces, and are equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows, big screen TVs and Nespresso machines.

“We drew inspiration by incorporating elements from the city grid forms and Victorian architecture like arches and round towers, reflecting themes of geometry, connectivity, and interlaced layers,” says founding partner of DesignAgency Matt Davis in a press release. The interlacing of forms also plays a big role in the exterior design of the development.

“We embodied a sense of playfulness when creating this building, introducing organic elements of the natural environment of the Garden District, and using a juxtaposition of articulated boxes, one floating above the other to embody distinct programmatic functions,” says Mansoor Kazerouni, global director of buildings at Arcadis IBI Group.

“This interplay of forms alongside the unique combination of luxury hotel suites, rental residences and a shared amenities floor and restaurant make this unlike any other location in the city.”

The 2,500-square-foot, two-storey Muse Bistro + Bar will have European-designed interiors and serve modern French-inspired cuisine. The first floor will be suitable for working, meetings, and quick grab-and-go food, and the second floor will be more refined and will also have 1,100 square feet of meeting and event space.

This TOOR Hotel is actually the first of four boutique TOOR Hotel Collection properties scheduled to open in downtown Toronto over the next five years, ranging from lifestyle to luxury five-star hotels, each reflecting their specific neighbourhood.

With nearly 40 years of experience, TOOR Hotel president and CEO Sukhdev Toor has developed dozens of hotels in Canada and the United States.

“As Toronto continues to grow, this prime location makes it a perfect retreat for travellers. The TOOR Hotel epitomizes the essence of a true urban lifestyle hotel, bringing a new offering to Toronto,” says Toor in a release. “From the downtown positioning to our thoughtfully designed spaces and architecture, no detail has been spared in providing our guests a unique and memorable experience.”

Located at 203 Jarvis Street, TOOR Hotel is slated to open this summer with occupancy beginning early summer 2024.
