The largest Banksy exhibit in the world with over 140 original works is coming to Toronto soon.
The Art of Banksy offers a chance to get a look at the world’s largest privately owned collection of Banksy art, including his 2002 Mona Lisa for a limited time. It’s a special piece because it was previously unknown, and was first publicly revealed in London in 2023. It’s also going to auction this year, meaning it’s expected to be withdrawn from public viewing.
The exhibit will also include prints, canvases, screen prints, sculptures, hand-drawn sketches, limited-edition pieces and “video testimonials by a close associate of Banksy.” Some of the most recognizable pieces that are part of the exhibit include ‘Girl with Balloon,’ ‘Flower Thrower’ and ‘Rude Copper.’
All together, the exhibit represents $35 million worth of Banksy art. The Art of Banksy has had over 1 million visitors worldwide, and has travelled to Melbourne, London, Auckland, Sydney, Gothenburg, Tel Aviv and Miami.
If you’re not familiar, Banksy is one of the world’s most well-known political street artists, despite somehow managing to keep his identity almost entirely secret over the years.
The exhibit runs from May 29 to September 2 at Lighthouse Artspace, located at 1 Yonge Street in Toronto. Tickets start at $35.99.
