The CNE is all about nostalgia, and one of the things everyone remembers best is the food.
Now, the Ex has started up a new tradition honouring the iconic foods we’ve all known and loved throughout the ages by introducing a Food Hall of Fame.
“This new tradition honours the innovative and unforgettable foods that have shaped CNE food culture over the years,” reads a post from the CNE on social media.
“To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the legendary Food Building, we are hanging banners for each of these iconic foods.”
The post has almost a thousand likes and dozens of comments from people shouting out their favourites and remarking on how they’ve been eating them for years, sometimes decades.
The post also lets people know that along with the arrival of the Food Hall of Fame commemorating all your fave fair foods throughout the years, one very special snack will be making a return.
That’s right, deep-fried butter is currently back at the CNE, and you have until Sept. 2 to check out the Food Hall of Fame and chow down on one last iconic deep-fried treat this summer.
The first ever inductees into the CNE Food Hall of Fame are:
- Deep-Fried Butter
- Tiny Tom Donuts
- Ice Cream Waffle Sandwich
- Pickle Pizza
- Primo Spaghetti
