The people behind Canada’s only Armenian restaurant recognized by the Michelin Guide have just opened a brand new spot, and it’s more accessible than ever.
The team that brought us Taline has now opened Giragi, a new stall located at The Well inside their food hall Wellington Market.
Taline is a family affair, operated by chef Sebouh Yacoubian and his brothers as a tribute to their late mother. In the same spirit, Giragi is a tribute to their father and his love for grilling. Drawing inspiration from traditional Armenian family Sunday meals, Giragi translates to “Sunday” and serves a range of kebab sandwiches and bowls with Armenian and Lebanese influences.
The concept actually started out in summer 2023 as a backyard barbecue pop-up in the alley behind Taline that sold out every weekend.
The menu at Giragi is built around kebab sandwiches. The options are chicken, beef, lamb or falafel and most come with accompaniments like pickled turnip, pickled cucumber, chili, cilantro and parsley. They also offer a fattoush salad, potato croquettes with feta aioli, and hummus for dipping.
You can also wash everything down with Armenian peach, apricot, sour cherry or pomegranate juice, or Lebanese pineapple juice or sparkling tangerine juice.
Giragi is now open at Wellington Market at 486 Front St. W.
