An event celebrating the beauty of cherry blossom season and the joy of spring along with its clean flavours and elegant ingredients is coming up in Toronto, and it’s bringing some majorly delicious dishes to the table from the people who do it best.

Aburi Sushi in Waterworks Food Hall is celebrating spring finally arriving in the city with a tasting menu that will be available for one night only, which will draw influence from cherry blossom season and the joy of nature reawakening.

The exclusive one night only tasting menu at Aburi Sushi Waterworks will guide diners through a journey of nine courses that reveals the strength and fragility of a fresh new spring season, highlighted by the luxury ingredient of A5 Wagyu beef and the fun and fancy experience of eating temaki at a classic-style hand roll bar.

The exclusive one night tasting menu starts off with a Hokkaido scallop carpaccio, then delves into a cod shinjyo (a sort of take on a steamed dumpling). From there, guests at the evening event will be treated to the next course of A5 Wagyu sukiyaki with seasonal vegetables.

From there, it’s time for the sushi courses, so make sure you’re ready. Next up in the evening’s progression is aburi salmon oshi, then aburi yellowtail toro nigiri, followed up by a special big fin squid nigiri.

The tasting menu concludes with a crab and foie gras temaki and a torotaku temaki. Seasonal Japanese fruits offer a bright and cleansing end to the meal.

This exclusive experience is available in limited seatings at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Reservations are available for parties of one to five, and are highly recommended to secure your place. The exclusive one night only Wagyu and temaki tasting menu is priced at $125 per person plus tax and gratuity.

The official description of the tasting menu event at Aburi Sushi Waterworks calls the evening “a celebration of spring at its most delicate and refined” that is “inspired by the fleeting beauty of cherry blossom season.”

The description also notes that the tasting menu “highlighting the clean, vibrant flavours of the season” is designed with “each bite offering a balance of richness and freshness” in mind.

The one-night-only A5 Wagyu Sukiyaki and Temaki Night at Aburi Sushi Waterworks will be taking place on May 19 with seatings available at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
