A new downtown installation is coming to the busy streets of Toronto, and it will be able to lift people up over 52 feet in the air.
The “Fundy Belle” will be an installation designed to look like a ship, which is intended to give a real life experience of the highest tides in the entire world, which can be found in the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia.
The ship rises 52.5 feet into the air, and the experience actually even includes free freshly shucked oysters from New Brunswick and chips along your way to complete the full Nova Scotia experience.
Not only that, but you’ll feel like a true sea dog with storytelling entertainment from a maritime sea captain to bring the experience of a brisk Nova Scotian high tide to life right in the centre of downtown Toronto.
The highest tides in the whole entire world are found in the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, with an extreme tidal range that can reach over 15 metres, or over 53 feet. The extreme tides are the result of a natural phenomenon called resonance as well as the funnel shape of the bay.
Over 100 billion tonnes of sea water flow in and out of the Bay of Fundy twice each and every day, and there are actually two extreme high tides and low tides every 24 hours. It only takes about six hours for the tides to go from low to high in their wild transformation, which is a true miracle of nature that can be witnessed in Nova Scotia.
The unique shape of the Bay of Fundy actually causes the water to rock back and forth in the bathtub-like shape of the bay due to synchronicity with the tides of the Atlantic Ocean.
You’ll be able to find the Fundy Belle boat installation on Front Street in Toronto, where it should be sure to attract a lot of attention during the days when it’s in operation. Keep a lookout for it, because it’s only around for a limited time, and will offer a taste of Nova Scotia that you definitely wouldn’t ordinarily be able to get in downtown Toronto.
The experience is sure to be great for visuals on social media, so if you want to get some great pics and video of the downtown core in Toronto that you’d never be able to get otherwise, you’ll want to head to this installation.
The Fundy Belle experience will be available from May 21 to May 24, and will be located at Front Street West and Spadina Avenue.
