Restaurants that closed last month in Toronto

Restaurants that closed up last month in Toronto during April of 2026 included too many restaurants that were gone too soon. Some of these spots only lasted a period of months to a little over a year before shutting down, and it’s a crying shame to see as they closed despite receiving accolades from many sources.
While we can only wait to see what the future holds for the people behind these projects that have closed, for now diners in Toronto will just have to mourn what they once had. And in some cases, maybe there’s hope that these restaurants will return in some form or another.
A cute neighbourhood restaurant, a viral sandwich shop, an izakaya and a 20-year-old Korean restaurant all closed down last month
Here are restaurants that closed last month in Toronto.
A neighbourhood gem nestled in the heart of Bloor West near Christie Pits, everyone loved the comforting but elevated dishes served at this restaurant. However, the desserts tended to steal the show with their sundaes and rich chocolate cake gaining major popularity.
The sandwiches made using homemade focaccia that were served at this tiny restaurant in Kensington Market went viral while they were available, racking up views on social media. The menu and the shop may have been small, but the flavours were big, and fans of Uncle Pete’s are hoping the promises that the store is just on hiatus will turn out to be true.

This restaurant is planning to relocate, but it’s a huge change for a traditional spot that’s been around at the same address for 20 years. The menu centred around traditional Korean food such as naengmyun, jeongol, bulgogi, galbi and bibimbap. The restaurant also served house made sausage and kimchi. Sadly, they closed at their old location near the end of April as the plaza where it was located is set to be redeveloped into a new subway station.

Many restaurants have come and gone in the space where this izakaya once stood, and it seems this most recent project hasn’t managed to make it stick. The menu had lots of favourites such as sushi, Korean fried chicken and other options, but maybe Cheongju just couldn’t compete with the vast array of other restaurants crowding the Little Italy area. The restaurant only opened its doors around a year ago.
