A huge snowstorm is hitting Toronto today, and as a result, many businesses including lots of restaurants are choosing to temporarily close their doors.
A blizzard has been sweeping the big city for the entire day, and the snowy conditions are causing some restaurants to post to social media letting people know that they will not be opening their doors for service today.
Most restaurants are letting everyone know that they’ll be closed due to the stormy weather tonight, but will be reopening for regular service again soon, and are warning everyone to stay safe out there in the dangerous conditions.
“Due to inclement weather, Stelvio will be closed this evening. We look forward to welcoming you for dinner tomorrow,” posted Italian restaurant Stelvio. “Stay Safe Toronto!”
“Due to weather conditions, we’re closed today. We’ll be back tomorrow,” Brazilian restaurant Rio 40 Degrees posted. “Stay safe!”
“Due to today’s severe snowfall and dangerous road conditions, Mikaku Udon Bar will be closed for the day to ensure the safety of our guests and staff,” one restaurant posted about their temporary closure on Jan. 15. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Please stay warm and travel safely if you must go out. We look forward to serving you again tomorrow.”
“Due to the snow storm, the restaurant will be closed today (January 15th),” DeSotos Eatery posted. “We will reopen tomorrow for our usual service. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you this weekend!”
“CLOSED FOR A SNOW DAY TODAY!” Brunch restaurant Maha’s posted to social media. “Stay home if you can, stay safe. SEE YOU TOMORROW.”
“A winter wonderland out there today. We were hoping to sell a whole bunch of bread today but it’s a snow day instead. @dufferingrovemarket is cancelled today. Hopefully we will see you all next week,” Johnson Family Bakery posted. “We’re donating a giant, big, huge stack of bread to East View Community Centre Food Bank. They are a wonderful partner we work with to help distribute unsold bread. It’s a struggle out there for lots of people, so take care of your community whenever you can.”
Another business posted that they’re actually open today, but with a similar sentiment towards helping out the community during this day of snowy weather.
“Snow Day!! Get the kids shovelling the neighbourhood- help those in need- do good,” reads a post from sweets shop The Candy Bar. “Pop over for a treat today! I’ll have delicious chocolate to melt on your tongue and we’ll sample some candy for the kids!”
Other spots have been actively posting that they are open today despite the weather, including Sugo, Little Harvest Market, Alice Marie and Classico Louie’s Pizzeria.
