Love is in the air right now in Toronto, but self love is left out of the equation far too often when it comes to Valentine’s Day.

So how about treating yourself to a dinner for one, any day of the year? One Toronto restaurant is thinking about just that, and has introduced a new menu for one that can only be enjoyed exclusively by solo diners.

Chantecler has cemented itself as a great French restaurant in Toronto and an excellent place to gather. However, with a new menu designed exclusively for solo diners, they’re showing they’re a great spot for dining alone as well.

The popular French restaurant has just introduced their new special exclusive “diner pour un” menu, also termed as “Chantecler’s table for one,” available solely to those dining by themselves.

The menu starts off with a few “petits petits plats,” which loosely translates to “little small plates” designed especially just for one. Those include items like fall squash with Delice de Bourgogne cheese with sourdough puffs and basil, butter confit cabbage with marinated Salt Spring Island mussels plus fermented peppers and bone marrow, steak tartare with house sourdough, braised duck pappardelle, and of course, an individual sized portion of fries just for one. (The best part of dining alone? No one stealing even a single fry.)

The other section of the special “diner pour un” menu consists of a list of “petits grand plats,” AKA, you guessed, smaller individual versions of the large plates served at Chantecler. These are the roasted rutabaga and vegetable demi glace with sunchoke chips and a vegan jus, dry aged King Cole duck breast with cranberry glaze, pan roast scallops with salmon roe beurre blanc, and a four-ounce pan roast filet mignon with Bordelaise sauce and bone marrow.

Larger plates also come with your choice of charred greens, roasted mushrooms, simple salad or brussel sprouts on the side.

The best part of the menu for one might be the prices, which range from just $6 for an individual portion of fries to $32 for the duck or filet mignon, with most of the items on the “diner pour un” menu priced well below the $20 mark.

“Dîner pour un: a single-portion bonus menu for solo diners, a little reminder that a table for one still comes with a sense of company,” reads a post on social media from French restaurant Chantecler. “Menu available only for parties of one.”

You can find Chantecler located at 798 Bloor St. W.
