A restaurant that’s popular for their pressed sushi has announced they’ve closed down one of their locations in Toronto.
Torch Pressed Sushi once had two locations in Toronto, but now they’re down to one. The restaurant recently let everyone know that they were shutting down one of their spots.
They specialize in pressed, rectangular sushi that’s often torched (hence the name) and topped with tasty garnishes. They’re especially known for their takeout and catering.
“To all our loyal customers, thank you for being a part of our Torch family,” reads a post on Instagram from Torch.
“We’ve had an incredible journey serving up delicious sushi and making memories with all of you, and we’re grateful for your unwavering support over the years. Your love for our food has fuelled us every step of the way.”
Their location at 5317 Yonge Street in North York closed on May 10, but their 507 Church Street location is still open, and Torch is far from winding down. In fact, they’re actually making some big changes and expanding their operations.
They’ve already been partnering with other businesses to sell their pressed sushi, which is now available at Bloom Cafe’s Wellesley and College locations, Royal Tea’s Chinatown and Scarborough Town Centre locations, Cafe Inside and Another Land Coffee.
“Behind the scenes, we have been working on expansion across the city,” reads Torch’s post. “We’ve developed a new product line and business model to supply our Torch sushi to other local businesses in Toronto. This includes onigiri, inari, and of course our signature Torch Pressed Sushi.”
While they are focusing on working on their new product line and business model, they’re also focused on other new opportunities like new potential retail locations.
Torch’s post concludes, “We can’t wait to continue this journey with you at our downtown location and beyond.”
