There’s going to be a new private residential project in Toronto, and it’s going to come complete with a roster of popular businesses like restaurants and boutiques. It’ll even be equipped with a cute new grapefruit fountain right smack dab in the middle of everything.

The James calls itself “a landmark in the making,” and will be surrounded by new locations of some of Toronto’s most popular restaurants and other businesses, like Mamakas Taverna, Dear Grain Bakery, Nutbar, Chocolat de Kat and Blu Boho.

The residential spaces are supposed to be large with good lighting and great views, and the interiors are designed by award-winning Toronto-based team Hariri Pontarini.

There are some amenities that only residents will have access to, including indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, a yoga studio and a library. The James will also be fully staffed with a five-star level hospitality team including valets, doormen and a 24/7 concierge.

In addition, residents will have access to an “IT butler,” personalized visitor control, guest suites, a storage and luggage valet, food and package delivery directly to the suite, fitness towel and laundry service and away services.

Lucky for everybody who isn’t living at The James, they’re also positioning the public areas of the residential project as a kind of new town square where the community can gather. The new residential development will bring plenty of fun new things to the neighbourhood that anyone can enjoy.

This includes a cool fountain designed to look like half a cut grapefruit that’s sure to become a ubiquitous background for all kinds of photo portraits and selfies.

Businesses that will be opening at The James will include Dear Grain Bakery, Gee Beauty, Chocolat de Kat, Harvest Wagon, Blu Boho, Pisces Gourmet Seafood Specialty Shop, Olliffe, Terroni, Nutbar and Nadege. The entire collection of businesses at the development will be called Shops at The James.

The team behind The James consists of Tricon Residential, Denmark-based Cobe, and Montreal-based Claude Cormier & Associes.

“The James is a collection of 127 luxury rental residences that will feature 10,500 square feet of boutique ground floor retail including a standalone 4,200 SF two-storey retail opportunity with a unique outdoor patio space facing the public square, and 17,200 square feet of office space on the second floor,” reads the official Tricon Residential website page for Shops at The James.

The James and Shops at The James at 5 Scrivener Square right near Summerhill subway station will be coming soon.
