A Canadian rap icon will be clocking in to work a shift alongside the regular staff at a busy Toronto restaurant tomorrow night, and it’s all for a good cause.
Kardinall Offishall will be taking to the grill at Nando’s tomorrow evening for one night only, grilling up the chain’s famous signature Portuguese chicken, working alongside the staff, meeting fans, and helping raise support and awareness for the disastrous events that have been occurring in the Caribbean.
The event will raise support for relief efforts in Jamaica following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa. It’s one of the most intense Atlantic hurricanes ever recorded, and the damage that has swept across the Caribbean region has displaced tens of thousands of people. Nando’s, and this event, will support Jamaican relief efforts through the Bob and Rita Marley Foundation Relief Fund.

“In the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s devastation, the Bob & Rita Marley Foundation is standing strong with the people of Jamaica. United by the spirit of #OneLoveinAction, the Foundation has mobilised immediate relief efforts delivering food, clean water, hygiene kits, and emergency supplies to communities hardest hit across the island,” reads the official website of the Bob and Rita Marley Foundation.
“In partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), Food for the Poor, grassroots groups, and an official GoFundMe collaboration with Jamaican-born UFC World Champion Aljamain Sterling, the Foundation is ensuring that urgent resources reach families in need. These efforts mark the first phase of a longer rebuilding mission focused on roofing repairs, home restoration, and community infrastructure support.”
Kardinall Offishall will be present at a Nando’s location in Toronto tomorrow to sign autographs, meet fans and engage with the community, but rumour has it that he may not be the only famous face to make an appearance at the event.

Nando’s is probably best known for their peri-peri grilled chicken recipe, which is marinated for 24 hours and flame-grilled. Nando’s first entered the Canadian market all the way back in 1994, and the chain now has Canadian restaurants in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. The brand first originated in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1987.
The fundraising event will be taking place at the location of Nando’s at Kennedy Commons, located at 15 William Kitchen Rd. Unit 1 in Scarborough.
Kardinall Offishall will be making an appearance at the Nando’s and working alongside staff there on Nov. 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
