A local Toronto cafe known for their Middle-Eastern-style simit bagels and their chai has been expanding in Toronto lately, and recently just opened up a brand new location.

Simit & Chai makes their simit fresh from scratch, an ancient kind of bagel dipped in molasses and rolled in sesame seeds.

They make all kinds of sandwiches with them, like their Poseidon with smoked salmon and cream cheese or their Beefster with Montreal smoked meat, goat cheese and mustard. They also serve brunch dishes like shakshouka, along with Turkish coffees, tea and masala chai.

They’ve been operating on King West for a while now, but this year they’ve opened two new locations.

A Leslieville location just opened at 1114 Queen St. E. in February, and a week ago they opened a very central downtown location that’s sure to feed lots of hungry office workers. The people behind Simit & Chai also opened Pasaj within recent years, a restaurant that also specializes in Middle Eastern cuisine and is known for their brunch.

Simit & Chai’s newest location is now open at 19 Duncan St., currently operating Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
