A legendary spot for Jamaican patties that closed down a few years back after being open for decades has finally reopened its doors.

Randy’s Patties has been in business since 1979, and people were devastated when they finally closed their doors. Drake even made waves saying he would buy the shop.

Now, the shop has reopened and is as popular as ever with people lining up for a taste of their flaky beef patties.

Randy’s posted to their story on Monday, Aug. 26 saying that due to demand they would only be selling patties until 12 p.m. on Monday and that boxes and frozen patties would not be sold until further notice. They then later posted to their story that they would be able to remain open until 1 p.m. with a limit of six patties per customer.

A vendor at the CNE also has the name Randy’s on it, and after reopening Randy’s Patties was quick to take to social media to inform customers that they were not present at the Ex.

However, not everyone is lining up for the new Randy’s. There are some comments from people on their social media saying the patty spot isn’t like it used to be.

“I’m waiting to see reviews from long time customers, because it’s new management and owners now who apparently don’t want to make themselves known,” reads one comment. “Probably because they aren’t Jamaican. I want to know everything from the patties, to cocobread to the curry goat taste the same first.”

“My friend tried it yesterday and said it doesn’t taste the same,” someone replied. “Patty Time is the closest thing to the old Randy’s.” The original commenter wrote back, “Bless you! I figured it may not and didn’t want to stand in line for hours. Sad to hear that though.”

Randy’s reopened on Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at 1569 Eglinton Ave. W.
