A food festival that’s exploded in popularity in Toronto and Montreal is now finally making its way this summer to the Mississauga area.

Taco Fest is just what it sounds like – a celebration of all things tacos. The festival has been going on in other cities in previous years, but now Mississauga is finally about to get a taste of all that taco goodness.

The festival centres around top chefs and local restaurants in each city serving up some seriously innovative taco creations along with refreshing cocktails to wash it all down. There should be over a whopping 150 variations on tacos to try, so bring your stretchy pants and get ready to chow down.

Atmosphere will be provided by live entertainment such as a mariachi band and salsa dancers.

It’s about time the festival landed in Mississauga, as it’s been going gangbusters in Toronto for almost a decade now. For eight summers, the taco festival has totally sold out, and is now returning for its ninth year. What’s different this year is that the festival will officially kick off with its very first events in Mississauga.

Just like the other cities, the Mississauga edition of Taco Fest will also have a Best Taco Award that will be given out according to attendee votes at the festival.

But wait, there’s so much more to this popular food festival. The Mississauga edition of Taco Fest should also incorporate some of the fun stuff found at other versions of the festival, such as food items exclusive to the festival, limited edition collabs, guacamole making classes, a hot sauce bar, tequila and mezcal tasting, and samplings of other products.

“After eight sold-out years in Toronto, expanding felt like the natural next step,” said Brad Wishen, Co-Founder of Taco Fest. “Mississauga has an incredible culinary community, and we’re excited to create a space where local chefs can compete, collaborate and celebrate Mexican cuisine in a big way.”

Presale sign-ups are now open for Taco Fest in Toronto, Montreal and Mississauga, so you can be notified before tickets go on sale and be ready to snap them up.

Also, if you don’t live in Toronto, Montreal or Mississauga and are tired of other places having all the fun, you can request a Taco Fest in your city.

Taco Fest is taking place in Mississauga this summer from June 27 to 28.

The Toronto edition of Taco Fest will follow that on Aug. 7 to 9, before heading at last to Montreal from Sept. 5 to 7.
