A beloved brewery recently made an emotional announcement letting people know that the original operators that put their blood, sweat and tears into the business will now be handing off the place to new owners.

Black Bellows is a craft brewery, brewpub and beer store that’s become popular with the locals nearby, and the owners have become well known in the tight knit community.

Recently, the owners took to social media to make a very difficult and heartfelt announcement that they wanted to let everyone know about.

“Goodbyes are hard, but here it goes. In 2018, we took the leap of converting a heritage blacksmith and auto body shop into an eclectic space where the community could gather to enjoy great beer and food. It hasn’t always been easy, but running this place has been truly a special experience. As you’ve probably figured out, we’ve made the difficult decision to hand over Black Bellows to new owners at the end of this year,” reads an announcement on social media signed by original operators Bryn, Peter and Scott.

“Thank you to Collingwood, and to every Bellowhead who came in for a beer, a meal, a show, a party, or simply a warm moment with friends. Your energy — the celebrations, the wonderfully strange events, the unexpected friendships — is what made Black Bellows what it became. A huge thank-you is owed to the staff who gave this building its heart and soul, and to the musicians, performers, artists, and community groups who helped bring it to life. We’re grateful for every single night of it.”

The post has gotten nearly 900 likes and around 65 comments on Instagram from people pouring their hearts out over the emotional change of ownership.

“The restaurant and retail shop will continue to operate as usual until the end of the year, after which they will close for a period of renovations. The brewery, however, will continue operations without interruption, supplying beer to our licensees and wholesale customers,” the post continues.

“As a thank-you to you, we’ll be running specials for the rest of December: $7.50 pints, $14 steins, $12 flights, and 25% off all cases of beer. Please join us for a cheers over the next month as we celebrate the holidays and the memories we’ve created together at Black Bellows. Thank you again for helping build something truly exceptional — this place became more than we ever imagined because of the people who filled it!”
