The mastermind behind some of Toronto’s most acclaimed cocktail bars just opened a brand new concept.

Frankie Solarik is responsible for Barchef and Prequel in Toronto, both upscale cocktail bars known for their innovative and high end drink creations. You might also know him from Drink Masters on Netflix.

Now, he’s opened a brand new space called Compton Ave.

Not just a bar, its website bills it as an “immersive and transportive cocktail experience” that’s “bringing the essence of this exclusive address in Central London to downtown Toronto.” The bar is inspired by a residence on the picturesque avenue in England, and the interior has a lush, dim vibe with lots of glowing chandeliers, candles, dark tones and luxurious textures.

The cocktails at the bar are created using original recipes crafted with in-house infusions, syrups and bitters, and “aim to tell a story” as well as “convey emotion and intrigue.”

The menu kicks off with four rotating draft cocktail options and four variations on a martini. Draft options might include a Cedar & Coconut Paloma, a Nitro Espresso, a Pandan Americano or the gin-based Lady of the House (a nod to the painting behind the bar). The martini variations are Smoked Olive, Umeboshi, the Diana with fig and Islay, and the Nottinghill with plum wine, grapefruit and balsam fir.

As you continue to peruse the menu, you’ll find further cocktail options with appropriately British-inspired names like The Queen’s Gambit, London Fog or Blossom Garden.

The English theme carries through on a food menu with options like Scotch eggs, fish and chips, cottage pie croquettes and sticky toffee pudding.

Compton Ave. is now open at 1282 Dundas Street West.
