Ontario restaurant earns Two Stars in new edition of the Michelin Guide

An Ontario restaurant was promoted to Two Stars and a new Toronto restaurant snagged One Star at last night’s ceremony announcing the latest edition of the local Michelin Guide. A restaurant also lost a Star, down from Two Stars to One Star.

Restaurant Pearl Morisette was bumped up to Two Stars, and aKin in Toronto received One Star. Sushi Masaki Saito is down to One Star, previously receiving Two Stars. A Green Star was also awarded to Ontario restaurant Sundays.

Six new regional Bib Gourmands for quality cooking for a good price were awarded to 7 Enoteca, Barrel Heart Brewing, Mhel, Ricky + Olivia, Sundays and The Cottage Cheese.

Sundays in Uxbridge was awarded its Green Star for its sustainable practices of sourcing ingredients directly from its local farm and other nearby farms, educating the next generation of farm workers, creating an evolving menu based on seasonality, and curating a locally sourced wine selection.

Restaurants newly recommended in the latest edition of the Michelin Guide include Arbequina, Linny’s, LSL, Okeya Kyujiro, and Sammarco in Toronto, and Odd Duck in Kitchener.

Other special awards were the Michelin Exceptional Cocktails Award given to Bex Figueiredo of Bar Raval, the Michelin Sommelier Award given to Faye MacLachlan of Langdon Hall, the Michelin Outstanding Service Award given to the team at Aburi Hana and the Michelin Young Chef/Culinary Professional Award given to Eric Chong of aKin.

“2025 marks another impressive year for the Toronto restaurant scene as we welcomed a new Two Star restaurant into the selection, highlighting the region’s burgeoning talent,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide.

“With a new Green Star establishment, we continue to see the local culinary scene’s passion and commitment towards a more sustainable and creative gastronomy scene.”
