New wine bar and bottle shop just opened its doors in Toronto

A new spot for wine lovers just opened its doors in Toronto, and they have great sips to try at the bar or take home.
Canary Counter is decked out in bright yellow, true to its name, decorated in a cheerful and kitschy but cool and clean vibe. The space is full of fresh energy but tiny, with capacity for just 10 people.
They’re not just serving any old wines here: their mission is to bring memorable, intentionally made wines to the forefront. Canary Counter is helmed by founder and director Celia Méndez Díaz who has a background in wine management, production and importing, and wine guide Nate Cross who’s a certified wine expert.
Their menu offers a tight selection of three- or five-ounce pours with a few options for white, red, rose and orange wine, and for a snack you can grab almonds, pretzels or mussels in escabeche served over chips.
While there are only a few by-the-glass options on the menu, you’re free to sample any bottle in the shop for a $20 corkage fee, and that’s really saying something as they have a formidable selection to browse from that you can also view online.
Canary Counter is now open at 322 Harbord St.
