A new neighbourhood restaurant that’s been teasing its opening for months has now finally opened, and it’s already a hit with locals in Toronto.
If the name Leuty’s sounds familiar, it may be because you’ve already heard it before in Toronto: a beach in the city is home to the iconic Leuty Lifeguard Station.
New restaurant Leuty’s is hoping to become just as iconic as the landmark in Toronto, and it looks as though the spot is already on its way, with good reviews rolling in from some of the first visitors.
Leuty’s is a bistro-style restaurant serving up traditional classic favourites that are ideal for a local hangout, including wings, spinach artichoke dip, garlic bread, calamari, salads, burgers and tacos.
Heartier mains include steak frites and fish and chips, both served with signature Leuty’s duck fat fries for a little extra luxury. To round out the nostalgic pub vibes, there’s sticky toffee pudding for dessert.
As for cocktails, the usual suspects are balanced out by creative signature drinks with names that pay homage to the local Beaches area. There’s the Ashbridge Martini with vodka, Lillet Blanc, fresh grapefruit, lime, honey and basil, a Boardwalk Punch made with spiced and white rum, apple cider, fresh lime, honey and cinnamon, and a Queen East Sour with rye whiskey, blackberry liqueur, fresh lemon, honey, egg white and a wine float.
Leuty’s also runs a happy hour with $6 tacos, beer and wine, and reduced prices on other snacks such as spinach artichoke dip. The tacos are made with whitefish, corn and bean slaw, guacamole, pico di gallo and a chipotle aioli.
Leuty’s is now open at 1963 Queen St. E.
