New Italian restaurant with a salumi bar opening this week in Toronto

A brand new Italian restaurant is swinging open its doors this weekend in Toronto, and it comes equipped with a unique feature not seen at just any spot in the city: a full salumi bar.

Notte is debuting this weekend and they’re bringing a full range of Italian fare to the table.

The restaurant concept itself is totally new, but it’s actually the evolution of two other concepts that are already well known and popular, Amano Trattoria and its cocktail lounge Bar Notte. The new Notte concept will still be run by the same team helmed by Adam Teolis, Executive Chef Michael Angeloni and Yannick Bigourdan, but will be more evening-focused.

Now, the evening at Notte starts with a robust aperitivo offering earlier in the night, and then service continues on into dinner and more of a social nightlife vibe.

The food at Notte is all made from scratch in house and draws inspiration from all regions of Italy to offer some classic favourites that everyone knows and loves.

The salumi bar is the star of the show at the centre of the production that is an evening at Notte, where you can see meats and cheeses being plated up in full view of diners at the main bar. Some of the signature offerings from the salumi bar will include prosciutto Parma and pressed melon, nduja and straciatella, and chicken liver mousse with Treviso jam.

However, the salumi bar is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Italian menu at Notte. They’ll also be serving Roman-style pizzas made over the course of a 72-hour process using five types of flour. In addition to that, Notte will be serving scratch handmade pasta as well as large format signature dishes designed to be shared like a 12-ounce bone-in veal parm that you can even top with a ball of burrata to kick things up just one more notch.

“Notte reflects how people actually want to spend their nights right now,” says Executive Chef and co-owner Michael Angeloni. “You come in for a drink, order a few things to share, and before you know it, you’re deep into dinner. The food is comforting and indulgent, but the atmosphere stays relaxed. It’s meant to pull you in naturally and keep you there.”

“Amano was always a place people loved, but we saw room to let it evolve,” says co-owner Adam Teolis. “Notte Ristorante keeps the heart of Italian hospitality intact, with a stronger pulse and a more generous point of view. We wanted to create a place that still feels special and elevated, but without making guests feel priced out of enjoying the night fully. A place where guests feel comfortable ordering another drink, another dish, and coming back often.”

Notte is opening on Jan. 10 at 9 Church St.
