New cafe and wine bar opening at five-star luxury hotel in Toronto

A new morning to night cafe and wine bar is slated to open in the lobby of a five-star hotel in Toronto.
LANO, a contraction of Milano, will be an all-day concept inspired by the culture of Northern Italy situated in the lobby of The Ritz-Carlton. The cafe bar is part of a hotel refresh that includes an updated lobby.
At LANO, you should be able to get coffee and pastries in the morning, antipasti and salads for lunch, and wine and traditional Italian cocktails at night, with a selection of 30 Italian wines.
The executive sous chef will be Ignatius Prinsloo and the chef de cuisine will be Alessandro Panattoni, who himself is actually from Italy.
“LANO is a testament to our team’s dedication to constantly create unique and authentic experiences for our guests, inspired by storytelling and delivered through service, design and craftsmanship,” said Guillaume Benezech, general manager for The Ritz-Carlton, in a press release.
“LANO’s varied offering and inviting atmosphere will enhance our existing culinary options, meeting the expectations of both our local community and hotel guests.”
Not only will the menu be inspired by the culture of Milan, but the design of the space will be as well, with design from firm Chapi Chapo Design.
“We envisioned a chic culinary stop that seamlessly fits into the fast-paced lifestyle of the city. The design draws inspiration from European aesthetics, offering a refined atmosphere where guests can enjoy a quick yet delightful experience,” said Tatiana Sheveleva, partner of Chapi Chapo Design, in a press release.
“Every element has been carefully selected to enhance a quick dining experience,” said project director Loris Ognibene in a press release. “From the delicate lighting to the sleek furniture, our goal was to design a space that feels approachable and timeless, much like Toronto itself.”
LANO will be joining The Ritz-Carlton’s other restaurants EPOCH Bar and Kitchen Terrace and TOCA.
Cafe bar LANO will be opening at The Ritz-Carlton in September 2024.
