A master pastry chef and chocolatier with decades of experience in kitchens around the world is finally opening his own brick and mortar shop in Toronto.
Steven Tran has over 20 years of experience working as a pastry chef for other people, and you may recognize him from TV competitions. His Instagram is stacked with creations like sweet and savoury macarons topped with caviar, immaculate Swedish princess cakes and champagne bottles made out of chocolate.
Now, he’s finally opening up his own shop called Steven Tran Patissier Chocolatier.
“It’s been almost a month since I’ve received the keys to my new commercial space and I’ve been waiting impatiently to announce it officially,” reads a social media post announcing the news, which has nearly 1,500 likes and almost 500 comments on Instagram.
“I’ve lived in five different countries learning my craft and countless hours in the kitchens and opening my own shop has always been my ultimate dream.”

Tran tells YourCityWithIN.com that the space will be more takeout-oriented but will have a few seats, and that the shop should sell pastries and chocolates like bonbons, bars, petit gateaus, biscuits and confections.
“After 20 years of working as a professional pastry chef working for other people, I feel like finally it is my time to go off on my own. I have travelled and worked in five different countries and for many acclaimed chefs and establishments,” Tran tells YourCityWithIN.com.
“I have always strived for high quality standards and have chosen places to work that reflect that. I feel ready now to open my own shop as I have reached a point in my career where I feel like I am comfortable with myself and my skills. After such a long career, this just felt like the natural step to take. I am investing in myself and taking a chance.”
Steven Tran Patissier Chocolatier should be opening around September.
