A huge concert venue is set to close temporarily in Toronto.

Work won’t be underway for a couple of years, but there are big changes coming to Budweiser Stage as part of larger plans for Ontario Place.

Budweiser Stage is slated to become an all-season venue called “Live Nation Ampitheatre.”

Renderings that were recently released by the provincial government last month showed these plans for Budweiser Stage, as well as for the overall completed Ontario Place project.

“For the past 30 years, our amphitheatre has presented and hosted some of the biggest and best Canadian and international artists,” a spokesperson for entertainment company Live Nation told INsauga.com.

“The revitalization of our iconic amphitheatre into a modernized, year-round venue is an important step for Live Nation Canada. We continue to work with the Government of Ontario and Infrastructure Ontario to finalize our design and timeline for construction.”

Construction isn’t expected to begin until after end of the 2027 season, but after that the stage will be temporarily closed. Any previously planned events should not be affected.

The Ontario government said that the new facility will “welcome thousands of more fans onsite, building on the world-class talent that Live Nation has brought to Ontario Place for close to 30 years.”

It has not been confirmed how long construction may take or how long the closure might last.
