An international chain for healthy cake – yes, you read that right – is opening their first ever Canadian location in Toronto.
Fit Cake is aptly named, as their cakes contain no sugar, gluten or lactose, and are vegan. This makes them suitable for people living a healthy lifestyle, as well as those with allergies. Items on their menu include cakes, bars, tortes, dessert jars, breakfast items and hot or cold beverages.
The chain originated in Europe, and has many locations across Poland and Malta. Fit Cake has been in business for around 17 years, and has 80 confectioneries plus 30 more under construction around the world.
“Fit Cake is the only sugar-free confectionery in Poland. We were the first in the country offering cakes and pastries without sugar, gluten and lactose, as well as many vegan options,” reads the English translation of their website.

They also work in conjunction with lots of organizations that support people with dietary issues such as diabetes, and embrace practices that lower food waste.
“No matter how high-flown it sounds, Fit Cake has a mission. It is expressed in the slogan: ‘No sugar, no problem.’ It is our motto, not an empty slogan. Sugar is one of the biggest addictions of the XXI century, and diabetes is one of the most dangerous diseases of our civilization. Therefore, we do not use sugar in our kitchen. We replace it with xylitol, erythritol or fruit,” reads their site.
“We are able to satisfy consumers who suffer from gluten intolerance, various allergies, those who follow specialised diets (including weight loss diets), as well as people suffering from coeliac disease, diabetes and other digestive system disorders. We also specialise in products for athletes, people who train very hard and live an active lifestyle.”
