Toronto just got a massive new Italian restaurant that spans 6,500 square feet and two levels, and encompasses two concepts under one roof.

Edna + Vita is divided into two areas: upstairs, Edna is more relaxed with a menu of classics, wine and a sparkling wine bubbles bar. Downstairs, Vita is intended to be more energetic with more of a cocktail bar vibe. Both spaces are united by Italian-inspired decor that blends vintage and contemporary design, and there are two private dining rooms at the restaurant.

The executive chef at Edna + Vita, Gordon Mackie, has had a career of over 25 years that includes working with well-known chefs like Jamie Kennedy and Gordon Ramsay, working in kitchens in the UK, and working as chef de cuisine at upscale Toronto restaurant Canoe.

The menu is a straightforward list of antipasti, pasta, pizza and mains, with options like lamb tagliatelle, tonnarelli shrimp diavolo, a mortadella pizza with pistachio pesto and bone-in veal parmigiana with buffalo mozzarella. As for drinks, cocktails include a vanilla espresso martini, a tiramisu martini, a selection of spritzes and a variety of negronis.

There are also happy hour and late night specials with discounted prices on drinks and food, and they serve house wine for $1 per ounce after 6 p.m. from Friday through Monday.

Edna + Vita is now open at First Canadian Place at 77 Adelaide Street West.
