A food truck that was previously only open in cottage country has now opened a new location in the heart of the city of Toronto.
Gato Gato typically serves food by the lake during the summers in Muskoka, but now the food truck is switching it up majorly by hitting the city streets for year-round service in Toronto.
The food truck has been serving eats inspired by the street food of Asia, with a special focus on noodle dishes such as dan dan noodles and khao soi.
Gato Gato’s menu also roams around Asia with other dishes like momos, kimchi rice balls, Japanese eggplant, shrimp toast, Indian street corn, pork belly lechon and chicken adobo.
“No waaayyyyyyyyy,” one person commented on a social media post announcing the Toronto location. “We were at your truck this past summer and loved it! Happy to see a “closer to home” location. Congrats on your expansion!”
“Loved every dish we tried at Gato Gato in Gravenhurst,” another person wrote in a comment. “Great to see another location opening closer to us. Yum!”
Gato Gato has a new special menu just for the Toronto location that still includes dan dan noodles, but also takes things in a bit of a different direction.
Noodle bowls in Toronto include spicy Korean beef, mapo tofu and mala eggplant, and Gato Gato is also serving bao in Toronto with options like bang bang chicken, mala eggplant, Korean brisket and Chongqing shrimp. They’re also serving popcorn shrimp, shrimp toast and momos, and you can even get an ice cream bao with miso dulce de leche for dessert.
Gato Gato is now open at Waterworks Food Hall at 50 Brant St. in Toronto.
