A small grocery store chain selling natural foods has announced they will be opening a new Toronto location.

Ambrosia Natural Foods was opened by a husband and wife team in 1979, and specializes in organic produce, natural groceries, vitamins, supplements, health and beauty products, and bulk items.

“Husband and wife John and Rina opened Ambrosia’s doors on John Street in 1979, selling nuts, dried fruits, baking goods, snacks and other bulk food items at discount prices. During the late 1970s, the bulk food concept was new to Canada, and the public appetite for quality bulk food products at significant savings soon caught on,” reads the Ambrosia website.

“From our original bulk food business, we expanded into vitamins and minerals, natural foods, fresh organic fruits and vegetables, natural cosmetic products, frozen entrées, specialty foods and more.”

The mini chain already has locations in Vaughan, Newmarket, Thornhill and in Toronto on Avenue Road. Now, they’re bringing their wholesome goodness to a brand new neighbourhood.

“We’ve spent the past 45 years staying true to our roots as a family-run business, growing from a small bulk store to your go-to for natural food, and wellness,” reads a social media post about the new location. “Our aisles may look bigger today, but our commitment to thoughtful products and affordable pricing hasn’t changed.”

The new neighbourhood where Ambrosia Natural Foods will be opening up is Leslieville, providing that area with another valuable resource for quality groceries.

Ambrosia Natural Foods should be opening in Leslieville in late 2025.
