Eataly has been expanding at a breakneck pace lately in Toronto, and now it’s been revealed that they’re opening what might be their most central downtown location yet.

Retail Insider reports that Italian grocery chain Eataly will be opening their next Toronto location at the Eaton Centre.

Eataly is a chain of giant grocery stores that not only make their own artisanal products like focaccia, pasta and mozzarella, they also contain restaurant and cafe areas within the supermarket. The global chain has already opened Toronto locations in Yorkville, at Sherway Gardens and most recently at Shops at Don Mills.

The new Don Mills location measures almost 10,000 square feet, and Eataly says it’s “designed as a curated Italian experience with a neighbourhood feel.”

According to Retail Insider, the Eataly at the Eaton Centre is slated to open in part of the main and second levels of the space where Nordstrom used to be. It hasn’t been confirmed exactly how large the new Eataly will be, but the Nordstrom location took up 223,000 square feet. Most of Toronto’s Eataly locations measure tens of thousands of square feet.

Eataly has locations in Italy, the UK, Brazil, Saudia Arabia, Germany, France, South Korea, Sweden and Turkey. Toronto now has an equal number of locations to Manhattan, which has three locations, and is gaining on Tokyo, which has five.
