A dessert shop known for its crepe cakes has just announced they’re shutting down their physical storefront and are majorly overhauling the business.
Millie Desserts has long been known for their crepe cakes and other desserts that blend French and Japanese influences. They also serve gelato, caffeinated drinks and cheesecake.
Shop owner Christinn Hua posted a long and emotional farewell letter to social media, letting people know Millie Desserts would be closing their Oxley location. The post has hundreds of likes and dozens of comments.
“Goodbyes and farewells – I admire the positive connotations in the etymology of these words, the well wishes and good intentions. I opened Oxley with a broken heart, and it’s with a broken heart I leave it. But broken hearts can heal, and this broken heart may yet brim with hope once again,” reads the post.
“Our lease ends this month. I haven’t decided on our last day of operations yet – I’ve always struggled to let go.”
While the store may be closing, if you’re a fan of Millie treats, never fear: they’ll still be available through their partners Chotto Matte, Khao San Road and Matcha Matcha, and Hua is interested in collaborating on new partnerships with cafes, restaurants and retailers. You can also still get their products delivered.
Millie also once had a Kensington Market location called Millie Creperie that’s been listed as “temporarily closed (due to COVID-19)” on their website. Hua confirms with YourCityWithIN that Millie Creperie will not be reopening at the Kensington location.
“If I’ve learned anything through the years, it’s that I can’t do it alone. Thank you all for being a part of my journey, and stay tuned for updates about our big move,” concludes Hua’s post.
“Goodbye, and fare well, friends.”
Millie Desserts should be closing within the next week or so.
