If you live in Toronto and love Southeast Asian food, especially dishes hailing from regions like Bangkok and Saigon, then you’re in luck: a new location of a popular restaurant for the cuisine has just recently opened its doors in the city.

Saigon Pai brings together the flavours of Vietnam and Thailand, all under one roof.

Unlike many restaurants where you often have to choose between either Vietnamese food or Thai food, at Saigon Pai you can get both. The restaurant serves both Thai and Vietnamese noodle dishes and rice dishes, including pho, pad thai, pad see ew, fried rice and chow mein.

Some of the signature dishes on the menu at the restaurant include grilled beef wrapped in betel leaves, hot and sour pork rib soup, a beef short rib stir fry served on a sizzling plate, and a Vietnamese sizzling beef platter that’s traditionally eaten for breakfast which comes with tender beef, savory pate, sausage, and a perfectly fried egg, all drizzled with a signature sauce made from rich beef stock and just a splash of red wine.

In addition to pho, Saigon Pai also serves many other Vietnamese soups, including Bun Bo Hue with beef shank, beef flank, pork sausages and round thick vermicelli noodles, Hu Tieu with shrimp, fish balls, crab stick, chives, onions, coriander and sliced BBQ pork in a chicken broth, and a beef stew known as Bo Kho served with your choice of baguette, rice noodle, egg noodle or steamed rice.

Saigon Pai also serves one of Vietnam’s most popular dishes, bun rieu: chicken broth cooked with tomatoes, crab meatloaf, pork soft bone, tofu, pork sausages, and shrimp paste, served with vermicelli.

The restaurant also serves a good array of vegan and gluten-free dishes on its menu.

Saigon Pai already has two locations in Toronto located on Parliament Street, as well as Gerrard Street. This new location will be the restaurant’s first foray into the more western neighbourhoods of the city.

“We believe great food does more than feed you – it connects you to a place, a culture, and a memory you didn’t know you had,” reads the official website for the restaurant Saigon Pai.

“Our mission is simple: to bring the warmth of Southeast Asian cooking to every table in Toronto, made with real ingredients, real care, and genuine hospitality that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk through our doors.”

The new location of Saigon Pai is now open at 1138 Queen St. W.
