Restaurants that closed last month in Toronto during February 2026 left gaping holes in the communities where they used to provide food, drinks, and sometimes even entertainment and a place to gather. Last month, we lost restaurants in Toronto for all-you-can-eat tacos and bar food, as well as a listening bar, a Mediterranean restaurant known for their brunch, and a major landmark establishment for Japanese.

Whether you’re on the hunt for the hottest new sounds or are just looking for a bite to eat at the end of a long week in your own backyard, these places will all be missed for the invaluable contributions they brought to their local areas and beyond. Now we can only wait to see what might take their place.

Here are restaurants that closed last month in Toronto.

Nami

Japanese food has been served for decades at this high end downtown restaurant that welcomed many a celebrity presence over its many years in business. In their closure announcement, the restaurant listed out just some of the stars they’ve hosted over the past 40 years: Meg Ryan, Russell Crowe, Meryl Streep, Carrie Fisher, Jean Claude Van Damme, U2, The Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston and Hideki Matsui, just to name a few.

Sounds Good

Not only did this funky space serve food and drinks, they also served their community by throwing events centring around music and nightlife. Located at the unique intersection where Dundas West and College split off from each other, the unconventional spot will be missed by foodies and audiophiles alike.

Prenup Pub

Near the beginning of the month, this beloved pub that served a wide selection of beer including imports from Europe closed its doors for good. That means one less pub on College Street where U of T students can get their drink on.

Sad Songs Cantina

This spot near Bloor and Lansdowne serving all-you-can-eat Mexican food announced around mid-February that they would be vacating their beloved and cute space due to issues they had been having with their landlord. Calling their landlord “abusive,” the concept quickly pivoted to offering a “private” menu service available by contacting the restaurant team directly.

Reyna on King

The end of the month brought the end of this restaurant on King East that was a sibling to a swanky spot in Yorkville. Their Mediterranean food and brunch (including breakfast burgers and baklava French toast) will be mourned by those in the neighbourhood.
