Restaurants that closed this past June in Toronto will be sorely missed, with all of them having made significant contributions to their communities. Whether it’s a cafe, burger spot, bakery or restaurant, it’s always sad to see neighbourhood gathering places go.

Queen’s End

This Parkdale cafe had been preserving the vibes of the previous business that closed in the space, a tattoo parlour and coffee shop. Now, this business has also closed down at the spot, meaning nearby sandwich lovers will no longer be able to chow down on Queen’s End creations.

The cafe had a chalkboard menu of casual comfort food, and provided caffeine and a neighbourhood hub to the local community until the end of June.

Bosnian flatbread and wood-fired pizza can no longer be obtained from this charming little eatery. The owners of the Kingston Road restaurant announced that they were shutting down the restaurant due to life taking them on a different path.

The last day for the comfort food spot and its flatbread sandwiches was June 22.

Millie Desserts

Fans of crepe cake will no longer be able to get their fix from this shop on Oxley. The owner said an emotional goodbye on social media, letting people know the store was closing around mid-June.

Their crepe cakes came in all kinds of creative flavours, and they also sold handheld crepes and ice cream. Millie also once had a Kensington location that had closed as well.

Extra Burger

Dundas and Dovercourt was home to this hip but cozy burger spot for a while, but near the beginning of June they abruptly announced they’d wrapped up operations.

The restaurant was a haven for smash burgers and crinkle cut fries, served alongside wines and cocktails. Their Bowlerama fries with cheese sauce and gravy will be missed.

Then & Now Restaurant

This restaurant in Parkdale caused a stir when they first opened with their no-tipping policy, and people were equally surprised when they announced they’d be shutting down at the beginning of June. The spot served fusion dishes with Asian influences such as steak and dumplings.

Unfortunately the closure was caused by the owner straining himself to do too much, juggling all roles without help, leading him to decide to shut the whole restaurant down.
