One of the top doughnut shops in Toronto just abruptly closed the doors of their store.

Dipped Donuts has been operating a Parkdale location, but they suddenly took to social media to let people know that it had shut down effective immediately.

The doughnut shop has been a popular one for years now, and started out with a window service location in Kensington Market. They’ve become well known for their gourmet execution of unique doughnut flavours such as Dubai chocolate pistachio, pumpkin spice creme brulee, salted caramel honeycomb, brown butter sea salt, strawberry peach jelly and masala chai.

They expanded to opening a full service, sit down location in Parkdale, but now that shop is no more.

Dipped Donuts announced the closure of its Parkdale location with an official post on social media.

“We are shutting down our Parkdale location effective immediately,” reads a social media post from Dipped Donuts.

“You can still pre-order online, however you will be unable to order the day of and/or come in and order. We’ll be sad to shut down the Front but we will be running a bunch of classes! So we cannot wait.”

So while you can’t head into the shop in person and pick out your doughnuts yourself, at least the Parkdale location will still remain useful to the Dipped Donuts business, and the Kensington Market location isn’t going to be going anywhere. In addition to that, there’s even some extra good news.

The same social media post that announced the closure of the Parkdale location also let everyone know that Dipped Donuts will be opening a brand new location. They’re even ramping up the excitement for the opening of the new shop by giving away a half dozen doughnuts to whoever can correctly guess where the new location will be.

The post has nearly 300 likes and almost 100 comments on instagram. Lots of people have commented on the post saying they’re sad to see the parkdale location go, but many commenters are also taking their best guess at where the new location might be popping up.

Some guesses/requests so far from commenters on Instagram for the new neighborhood for Dipped Donuts include Leslieville, St. Clair West, near U of T, and Yonge and Wellesley.

Dipped Donuts had posted on social media that the Parkdale location of their shop had shut down effective immediately about a week ago.
