A shop for fresh seafood has announced they’ll soon be closing down after nearly 13 years in business in Toronto.

Hooked is one of Toronto’s top seafood stores, and they’ve had a long run at one of their locations. Now, they’ve announced they’re shutting down one of the shops in their mini fish empire.

“We opened our wee gem of a shop on Baldwin in Kensington Market almost 13 years ago. Kensington was full of small businesses, many family owned, some generational,” reads a post from Hooked on social media.

“The direction, clientele and shopping habits of the market have changed in the last decade. This has led us to the decision to close our Baldwin shop in Kensington.”

The post continues on to say that they’re going to refocus their energy on their two larger shops in Leslieville and on the Kingsway. They’re also offering free home delivery to the market area and surrounding neighbourhoods, and anyone interested in the service can get in touch via email.

People have been commenting on the social media post from Hooked saying how sad they are to see the Kensington location go and what a big impact its loss will have on the neighbourhood.

Hooked in Kensington Market will be closing around the end of June.
