An Italian restaurant just abruptly shut its doors in Toronto, but the team behind it is already at work on something new.

Lucia suddenly took to social media to announce their immediate closure. The restaurant served Italian food with elegant presentation in a sophisticated space, with classic dishes on the menu like pastas, sandwiches, steak and seafood.

“Today we announce the sale of our dear, little restaurant, Lucia,” reads a post from the restaurant signed by operators Michael and Fabio.

“Come for the last supper, then watch the resurrection, as our entire team migrates over to College St. at our new spot.”

The new spot the team is opening is called Sal’s Kitchen, and is taking over the space in Little Italy recently vacated by Wolfie. The new restaurant should serve similar cuisine to Lucia.

Named for Michael and Fabio’s dads, Sal’s will be inspired by the meals they grew up eating and traditional family dishes and should be opening around early July.

The post announcing Lucia’s closure has over 200 likes and over 20 comments on Instagram from people saying they’ll miss Lucia in the Junction Triangle neighbourhood, but they’re excited to try Sal’s.

The last day for Lucia was June 27.
