A restaurant serving up food inspired by the regions of the Mediterranean and Portugal that’s also known for their delicious brunch has just suddenly announced they’ll soon be shuttering their doors in Toronto.

Luna serves lots of dishes that lean heavily on Portuguese influences with a strong basis in seafood, such as oysters, shrimp, clams, sea bass and octopus. For brunch, they serve up dishes that include shakshuka and pancakes alongside other options such as a variety of Eggs Benny, hashes and wraps. They’ve also become known for their cute patio.

The restaurant now resides in the neighbourhood of the Junction in Toronto, but it wasn’t always that way for the Mediterranean spot that has been in business for decades.

“Luna, previously a staple in the Queen West Neighbourhood has been creating delicious & healthy Mediterranean inspired food for over 25 years,” reads the official Luna website.

“Luna Junction continues where Luna cafe left off while allowing us to offer so much more. Open at our new location in the heart of the Junction we now offer delicious Portuguese and Mediterranean inspired dishes in a fully licensed Dining Room, while still offering our unique brunch options.”

While the Mediterranean restaurant has enjoyed many years of success at their Junction location that they had moved to eventually, after all their exciting and adventurous chapters Luna is now closing the book on their story for good.

“The sun is soon to set on our Luna adventure. We will be closing at the end of December,” reads a social media post announcing the closure from Luna. “It has been an incredible pleasure and privilege to serve you all these last 28 years, hope to see some of your smiling faces.”

The post has received around 70 likes and around 25 comments on Instagram, with people commenting on the post wishing them well with whatever comes next and saying they’re sorry to see them go.

“Wow! 28 years in the restaurant business is a testament to your passion and talent for creating wonderful meals and a space to enjoy them. Wishing you only the best in your next chapter,” one person wrote on the post.

“All the best in whatever comes next <3 …and a truly heartfelt Thank You for all the beautiful memories and meals you’ve hosted for us. Gonna miss you,” wrote another commenter.

“Oh wow,” someone else commented.  “I had no idea. We will try and catch you. Congratulations. 28 years is quite something.”

The last dinner service at Luna will be on Dec. 20 and the last brunch service will be on Dec. 28.
