A popular Thai restaurant with a big following has just closed down their original location in Toronto, but it’s already being replaced by something else.

Pii Nong Thai restaurant has become extremely popular for their collaboration with Lamai Massage at their Yonge and Lawrence location, where you can find spa services like massages paired with Thai meal packages.

The restaurant also operated a location in the Bayview area, but now that location is no more. Fortunately for food lovers in the neighbourhood, the restaurant is already being replaced with another restaurant that should offer something very similar.

“What began in 2019 as a small neighbourhood restaurant in Leaside, led by a then-unknown chef from Bangkok, has blossomed into something truly special – the creation of Canada’s very first Complete Thai Experience just six years later,” reads a message from Pii Nong Thai regarding the closure of their restaurant in the Bayview area.

“While we say goodbye to Bayview, our flagship location at Yonge and Lawrence isn’t going anywhere. The beloved dishes and flavours you’ve come to know and love will continue to be served at 3321 Yonge St. To our Leaside community, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us, dining with us, and celebrating life’s milestones with us over the years. You have been the foundation of our journey.”

The post goes on to say that the space won’t remain empty for long, as the Bayview location of Pii Nong Thai is slated to quickly be replaced by a brand new Thai restaurant after being closed for a very short period of time for renovations.

The restaurant is set to transform into a new sister restaurant for the Pii Nong brand family, which will be called Chon Modern Thai Cuisine, which they say will be “offering a fresh and modern take on Thai food.”

“Chon means spoon, a small but powerful symbol of Thai dining and culture,” reads a social media post on the new Instagram page for Chon Modern Thai Cuisine. “In every meal, the spoon takes centre stage, reflecting how Thai people share food, show respect, and connect through eating.”

Chon Modern Thai Cuisine will be located where the location of Pii Nong Thai found near the intersection of Bayview and Eglinton once was found, at 1677 Bayview Ave.

Sunday, Oct. 19 was the final dinner service for the Bayview location of Pii Nong Thai.
