A popular neighbourhood coffee shop that’s become beloved in its community has announced that they will soon be closing their doors.

Emily Rose Cafe has been in business for about five years, and now the owner behind the shop has taken to social media to announce that they’re looking forward to taking life in a different direction.

“I’m so proud to say that the cafe has been a neighbourhood staple since we opened our doors 5 years ago, and although our shop remains busy and vibrant, there have been some amazing changes in my personal life and I’ve decided to focus on family life for the next little while,” reads a social media post from Emily Rose Cafe.

“This decision did not come lightly, but I am so excited for what’s to come. We got our keys to this little corner shop in July 2019; went through hurdles to open up; a pandemic, restrictions of all sorts, but found a way to welcome people in, and our cafe slowly started growing; and that is because of you all.”

The post says that while the coffee shop may be closing down this month, “Something special is coming to this beloved corner, familiar faces and fun changes, stay tuned.” Hopefully that means coffee fiends will still be able to depend on the address for their fix.

“We’ve had tremendous support since day one, and I can honestly say that’s what keeps us small business owners going; it’s the community, the customers, the friends we’ve made along the way. Who knew that such a small space would have such a huge impact on my life, I am truly grateful for everyone who has come in to grab a drink, a pastry or simply stopped by to say hello,” the social media post from Emily Rose continues.

“Those quick morning conversations while ordering coffee add up to really getting to know a person’s story, those little moments mean so much. We’ve seen babies grow, met all the dogs in the hood, hosted dozens of pop-ups and workshops and have shared our space and shelves with other local artists and businesses. This all would not have been possible on my own. I have been surrounded by the most amazing staff who have truly given Emily Rose that welcoming feeling, and I think that’s what I will miss the most.”

The last day for Emily Rose Cafe will be Oct. 30.
